“I have had the privilege of working with Coach Shawna for over a year.  She took a “Whole Body” approach in the sense that she not only provided run specific running workouts, but included strength work specific to my needs.  Mindful coaching, and an extraordinary amount of time in endurance sport has given Shawna the ability to guide athletes to their goals while reducing injury risk.

One huge thing Shawna did for me, was cleaning up my running form.  She was able to key in on some foot placement issues. They were not big but, over time, if they went un-corrected would cause me more running injuries. I have had some issues with my IT band, over the years, much of that simply went away because Shawna was able to figure out why these injury. It was amazing how quickly I could feel a difference.  All of the running drills, specific work in the gym, and strengthening my posterior chain have made a HUGE improvement to my running. ” I met Shawna approximately 2.5 years ago and wanted to improve my overall physical strength but in particular my golf swing.  At the time I was about 162 lbs and I had some pretty severe back issues.  I am 66 years old and my hope is to play golf and be active well into my 80’s.  Shawna is first of all an exceptional person.  She understands the human body and condition from nutrition to functionality.  She has carefully crafted and customized a training approach for me over this time to improve my overall wellbeing as well as to build me functionally to help improve my golf game.  Over the period we have worked together, I have dramatically improved my core strength.  This has translated into the ability to significantly improve my distance off the tee, general power as well as my overall golf stamina as related to my back.  I average at least 4 rounds of golf per week without pain and stiffness, and I can say with great certainty that is a direct result of my conditioning and training with Shawna.


Presently, I am in the best condition of an adult life and I owe a great deal of this to training with Shawna. My weight is down to 156 and my body fat has dropped as well.  I know I can get all the exercise direction from the internet, but without knowledge of physiology and physical balance, it’s hard to simply apply the right workouts at the right time.  Shawna can look at me when I walk in and warm up and pretty quickly ascertain my physical imbalances that need attention.  
 
If one weighs the expense of a personal trainer versus overall health, the return on your personal health investment is extraordinary.
